A 100% veggie alternative based on in-depth research into new eating habits
Autogrill has won an important innovation award: its WOW Burger, the 100% vegetable alternative to the classic hamburger, is one of the winners in the first Menu Innovation Awards Europe (2022), an event organized by NielsenIQ BASES that acclaims the top product innovations in Europe.
The WOW Burger, the first 100% plant-based hamburger, is the fruit of creativity in Autogrill’s R&D function and was developed in collaboration with Garden Gourmet, thanks to the expertise of Nestlé Professional, and chef Simone Salvini.
It sprang from the idea of offering an alternative to people who want to have more vegetable-based products in their diets. It’s made of premium quality ingredients with the correct nutritional values: a turmeric bun, a Garden Gourmet Sensational Burger, melting vegetable slices made with sprouted wholegrain rice, lettuce, tomato, sweet pea hummus and a vegan cocktail sauce.
The WOW Burger is designed to explode with taste and is also in line with growing demand from consumers for food that’s balanced and sustainable.
