Fondazione Veronesi and Autogrill in renewed partnership to support scientific research
Fondazione Veronesi’s cancer research project in partnership with Autogrill – “La macedonia per la ricerca®” (fruit salad for research) – is reaching its 3rd edition this year.
From 27 June to 28 July 2024, all Autogrill points of sale will be featuring a special fruit salad designed to fund scientific research and raise travellers’ awareness of the importance of healthy eating.
Autogrill’s support
Autogrill has been supporting Fondazione Veronesi since 2021 by helping to fund research in the field of nutrigenomics, the science that studies relationships between inherited genes and food and how they may influence our health. Funding was provided for work by Dr. Rosarita Nasso on polyphenols and their beneficial effects on stomach cancer. Thanks to the renewal of this funding, Dr. Nasso will be able to continue focusing on the inflammatory and metastatic processes associated with this type of cancer and develop new therapeutic approaches.
“This year too, we’re renewing our commitment with a third edition of “La macedonia per la ricerca®”, convinced as we are that raising our customers’ awareness can generate a real, positive impact on the promotion of responsible and sustainable lifestyles and eating habits and contribute to progress in scientific knowledge,” comments Avolta’s Luca D’Alba, General Manager Italy, F&B.
The benefits of fruit
Eating fruit is essential for a healthy and balanced diet. Guidelines recommend eating from 2 to 3 portions of fruit a day and fruit salad is a practical and tasty solution that’s perfect for travellers stopping off at Autogrill.
