Autogrill and Too Good To Go join forces to reduce food waste
Autogrill has embarked on a new collaboration with Too Good To Go, a social impact company that’s the world’s biggest marketplace for surplus food, to raise awareness of the importance of reducing food waste and telling people how to recover surpluses from Autogrill points of sale across Italy.
The first in our industry to cover the motorway and airport network, the partnership started up in November 2023 with a pilot phase that gradually involved 20 points of sale. It was backed up by a campaign entitled In Viaggio con Autogrill e Too Good To Go (Travelling with Autogrill and Too Good To Go) and is now working to activate all Autogrill’s points of sale in the country in the motorway, airport and railway channels.
In the pilot phase alone, the collaboration made it possible to save over 8,000 Surprise Bags of unsold products from waste, totalling around 8 tonnes of food and delivering a saving of over 20 tonnes of CO2 emissions, the equivalent of the emissions generated by driving from Rome to Milan 112 times or the energy needed to refrigerate over 60,000 33 cl glass bottles.
The Travelling with Autogrill and Too Good To Go campaign enables customers to purchase the Surprise Bags offered by Autogrill and Too Good To Go with a variety of products from both the bar counter and normally packaged goods in the market assortment.
This partnership is aiming to show that even small actions can have a significant impact on our world, not only by reducing waste but also by promoting a culture of conscious and sustainable consumption.
Autogrill, together with Too Good To Go, is committed to making the fight against food waste everyone’s good habit. And everyone who travels in Italy can now do just that, by preventing the waste of food that’s still good in Autogrill stores.
